DIY Halloween Costume: AHS Coven

Yesterday i had ten minuets to decide on a costume for a 40th / Halloween party. I wasn't sure what to dress up as, but i eventually i decided on a witch from Coven.

Luckily i had everything i needed in my wardrobe. All you need is;

A white shirt

A black skirt

A hat

A black tie for your neck

And boots

Easily done.

I'm actually completely obsessed with this look and i'm also pretty proud of myself for being able to put it all together.

I hope you all have an amazing Halloween.

The Skin System

I used to slack a lot with my skin care routine and it's mostly because i couldn't afford decent skin care products constantly that worked for me. However for about a year i've been using The Skin System  products which are Asda's own skin care range and i'm a huge fan of it. All the products in this post ARE cruelty free

The first product is the Overnight Blemish Serum. I often question over night quick fixes however, this product definitely does what it says on the tube. It reduces swelling and redness so quickly. Its obviously a 'overnight' serum however i use it as an when i need a blemish dealing with and within a couple of hours if that i can already see it working. The tube isn't huge but you don't need a lot of product so it lasts ages.

The next product i'm loving from their range is the 3 in 1 Mask, Scrub & Cleanser. I was a little sceptical about this, as i always am with products that claim to be more than one thing, however you can't go wrong with this. I've used it as both a face mask and a face scrub. To use as a mask all you have to do is apply it as you would any other and leave it to dry, for around ten to fifteen minuets. Every time i use it wether it be as the mask or the scrub it leaves my skin feeling amazing and incredibly soft.

This Night Cream has become part of my daily skin care routine, i use it at night as it should be but also its become my daily moisturiser too. I have combination skin so its quite dry in some places and oily in others, and this definitely helps, it doesn't make my oily parts too greasy and it helps my dry skin. I have eczema so i've found this a huge blessing in disguise. I've noticed that when i don't use this before applying my foundation it doesn't go on as well or look as good.

All these products are purse friendly, which is why i love them; none of them cost more than five pounds, in fact they're all less then three pounds.

There are more products in their range which i have yet to try but i wanted to share these products with you as they've become my holy grail products and as i said are purse friendly so i'm completely obsessed with them.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

The Autumn Tag

I saw my girl Lauren do this tag and decided i'd like to do it as well as autumn is my absolute favourite time of year. You can check out her post here.

What signifies the start of Autumn for you?

When the air starts to get a little cooler and the leaves begin to turn brown and orange. As soon as September rolls around i'm like goodbye summer, hello autumn.

What is your favourite autumn scent?

Definitely spiced apple. I will make sure i have a spiced appled candle every year. I think it's more related to christmas however a lot of spiced apple scents do come out around September, October time.

What is your favourite Autumn colour?

Orange and Burgundy. I don't often wear bright colours however when it gets to autumn, i try to branch out and add some orange to my wardrobe and i think burgundy just looks great all year round but its definitely one that works with autumn.

What is your favourite autumn drink?

I know its 'basic' but i don't care pumpkin spice is everything and i am obsessed.

What TV show, new or old, are you looking forward to this autumn?

The Walking Dead is back and i am hyped.

What is your favourite autumn fashion trend?

I don't follow or keep up with current fashions or trends much, however recently i've been enjoying being able to bring out my cute beanie hats again.

What is your favourite frugal Autumn activity?

You know it's going to sound boring but staying inside when it's cold and rainy and snuggling up watching halloween(y) type films, because of course as soon as autumn comes it means its halloween season.

What is your favourite makeup look come autumnal weather?

I'm obsessed with burgundy and gold colours at the moment. In fact my favourite palette that i would suggest for autumn is the anastasia beverly hills - modern renaissance.

So that's my autumn tag done. I'm tagging everyone who reads this post to do this tag. Please do link me if you do decide to do it, i'd love to read all your answers.

Flicker Album Review

It's FINALLY here. I've been waiting for this album since Niall released This Town.

The good thing about the boys all going solo is that we get to hear their own sound, obviously i love one direction's music but its so nice and refreshing to hear them all taking their own roads with the genere's and type of music they want to make.

His album was released on Friday and i wanted to wait until i'd listened to it a few times before i wrote my review. The first time i listened to it was just with excitement and anticipation. I've now listened to it a lot more times, i don't think i could put a number on how many times though, lol.

Flicker gives me the eagles and fleetwood mack sort of vibes, which he did say was a lot of influence for him whilst creating the album, thats the music he grew up listening to. Whilst it gives me those vibes i don't feel as though he's just tried to be them, or to recreate their sound, it has his own stamp on it.

It's definitely a more mature sound which i expected anyway as he's not that seventeen year old lad we all met back in 2010 on X Factor. He's a grown man now and it definitely reflects in this album. I do think that anyone who will choose not to listen to his album due to who he is, you know all those music snobs who aren't willing to accept him as an artist of his own just because he came from a 'boy band' will miss out on listening to some new and fresh music from him.

Over all I'd highly rate this album, i know a lot of people will be reading it like 'of course you will, you loved 1d' but that's not true, theres some songs released by certain other members that i dislike and i'm not shy about saying so.

Flicker by Niall Horan has five stars from me.

I have a ticket for his tour next year and i cannot wait to hear it live.

I hope you've all had a lovely weekend.

My Firsts...

I love a good post where you get to find out random things about others, so i decided to do this post.

Memory - I can't actually remember if i'm being honest, and i know there would have been others which would have happened before this but i really can't think of any as i'm writing this so i'm going with when i went to see S Club 7 live with my mum and godmother.

Pet - I had a cat we just took in because i don't know the story but i think his owner abandoned him and we named him Felix. My mum told me once i must've only been about two years old, that she came into the kitchen and i was sat on the floor cat biscuits surrounding me and when she asked me what i was doing i told her i was feeding the cat.

Friend - My first friend is someone i'm still friends with now 20+ years later. She's called Bec and she used to live round the corner from me, we ended up at the same primary and high school, we practically grew up together.

Kiss - I was eleven, i'd just started high school and there was a boy i had a massive crush on and we kissed just for the sake of it after school one day. Neither of us had any idea what we were doing, so it was sloppy and just generally really embarrassing and gross.

Dream Job - I always wanted to be a marine biologist, i wanted to work at somewhere like seaworld (ew i know) however as i got older i realised the issue with places like that and then wanted to go out to sea and study marine life.

Broken Bone - I broke my arm falling off the bed when i was around two or three. I was staying at my grandparents whilst my mum had gone to work and i was messing around on the bed and my grandma was trying to catch me / make sure i didn't fall and she went one way, i went the other and bounced off the bed and broke my arm. To this day we still have the bantz and say to my gran 'remember when you broke my arm.'

Drunken Night - I actually can't remember my first drunken night but what i can tell you is that it probably was in a field somewhere with a bottle of strongbow.

Tattoo - I don't yet have any tattoos.

Piercing - I had my ears pierced when i was eight for an easter present off my god mother.

Hair Disaster - I tried to go blonde once and it went bright orange, funnily enough that's the colour i'm wanting to go now.

Concert - My godmother got me, her & my mum tickets to see S Club 7. I was so happy, they were my favourite band back in the day.

Holiday Abroad - My first holiday abroad was to Spain, my grandparents told me that we were going to Devon, i still believed it when we turned up to the airport, they actually had to tell me where we were going otherwise i'd have believed we were going to Devon up until we got on the plane.

I hope you're all having a lovely week so far.

World Mental Health Day

It upsets me that in this current day we arestill having to fight to have our illnesses taken seriously. If we went to the doctor with a lump it would be taken seriously, so why are we still dancing around the topic of mental health when it's a killer just like a terminal disease. Its a silent killer, there's no obvious physical symptoms which can be treated, it's all in the brain, which still is a vital organ in our body that needs to be taken care of.

My mental health issues have ruined so many possibly good opportunities for me, which results in me ending up feeling more down on myself.

Imagine being so anxious about something or nothing that you feel like you actually may physically throw up, or your hands being extremely clammy yet full of pins & needles, or going through cold sweats, heart palpitations, unnormal breathing patterns. Thats something i experience a lot due to suffering from an anxiety disorder. Anxiety isn't pretty or a new trend for everyone to jump on board with which does seem to be happening a lot. If you actually suffered with an anxiety disorder then you wouldn't be glamourising it on social media or to your friends for the fun of it. Suffering with an anxiety disorder can be crippling. Imagine feeling so anxious about leaving your house that you end up cancelling anything important you were supposed to do. I've been there. It ain't cute, in the slightest.

Depression is a funny one, it tends to come hand in hand with anxiety or one will bring on the other. One minuet you can feel great and be really on top of things the next you can be so down and in severe cases to the point where self harm becomes a way of dealing with these heavy thoughts or even worst an attempt at your own life.

What motivates me to be advocate for mental health is the fact that there is still a stigma attached to it, despite mental illness being a common thing for people to suffer, theres still people who aren't open to talking about it, because it makes them feel awkward which has a knock on effect for people who a dealing with it, because we see that others don't want to talk about it so we don't; and thats extremely damaging.

The rate of suicide attempts / the amount of men who genuinely do succeed in ending their own life is much higher than women, because women will be more open about talking, where as men are programmed to be the 'strong' one and masculinity can be the main cause of men bottling everything up to the point it gets too much and ending their own lives seems like the only option.

As a society, women & men should feel comfortable talking about issues they're going through, we should feel comfortable reaching out for help. Mental Illness is not a 'bad' thing, it shouldn't be made out to be an embarrassing topic which people are made to stay mute on.

As i said earlier mental illness is a silent killer.

For anyone reading this who may follow me on social media or may have just come across this post because of the hashtags, please don't ever feel like you need to go through this alone. If you feel you have no one, or your scared to open up to someone close to you, i'm always here.

"Our brains are sick but that's okay."  - Twenty One Pilots

Be kind.

Reach out to someone if you think they're struggling. You never know what someone may be keeping to themselves and that one conversation may be their decider to wether or not they seek help or they end their own lives.

I'm sending you all my love & positive thoughts. You can get through this, you can stop letting your mental health control you. It may seem hopeless at the moment but you can do it.

Happy Birthday Oscar

My boy is turning two today. I'm emotional, i don't know where my little baby has gone.

How did he go from this

To this

In what feels like such a short space of time.

Having him in our home has definitely brightened it massively. Nothing beats getting home from work and having him run towards me wiggling his bum and wagging his tale.

Me and my mum have made him some pupcakes for him to munch on to celebrate. If you're interested in making any; you can check the recipe out here

Obviously he had to lick the bowl after, its the law!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY OSCAR!

I hope you've all had a lovely weekend.

I've Stopped Apologising For My Mental Health

For as long as i can remember i've apologised for my mental health. If people ask me to go somewhere i don't feel like i can, i've apologised. If i'm having a bad day and my mood isn't the same as it usually is, i've apologised.

I'm not doing that anymore. Someone with a cold or a cough doesn't feel the need to apologise so why should i apologise for the way my mental health effects me, i shouldn't.

I'm on medication for my anxiety and depression and although they have improved my mental health a lot, to the point i can actually live my life normally for the most part; i still have bad days, because my meds aren't a cure.

I try my hardest to push myself and to not let it control me but sometimes it does and thats not something that i should be feeling bad about.

My general attitude now towards this is that people that genuinely matter in my life will understand my odd behaviour, if i go quiet for a few days or if i cancel plans (as much as i try not to, sometimes i have to.)

Sometimes i need to be alone and i need to have space from everyone around me, and thats okay. Its not something that i need to apologise for. Life can get too much for anyone at times and we all need our own time. I get overwhemled so easily and it can be the littlest thing that sends me over my limit but its something significant to me and as i said earlier the people who matter will try to understand and will be there for me when i need it and will back away when i need my space.

REMEMBER: We don't have to apologise for the effect our illness has on us!

PS. Our mental health also isn't an excuse to be a shitty and (or) nasty human being.
